It’s hard to tell, but it’s snowing. To a lot of folks, that’s not impressive. But to us, having a snowy day on the “Romantic Road” in Germany last fall, was quite fun. Autumn had set in nicely with everything in blazing color, and then the powdery white blanket, finished it off. This little dock was the perfect find. I shot at numerous angles trying to get just the right shot. I didn’t want to leave, but the cold and getting wet finally moved me back to the vehicle. And off we went, on back roads, trying to get lost in this wonderful wanderland.

Just outside the gates to this walled city is a cool little pond that I heard is a great spot for night shots. Actually the whole city is a great place for night photography. The geese were restless, knowing I was on the banks of Gaulweither Pond that dark and lonely night last fall. I was hoping they would stay still, since I was taking long exposures. It took quite a few shots to find one where they weren’t moving around.
Returning on the “Romantic Road” from Neushwanstein Castle in Germany, we found this neat little dock on a pond. My wife wasn’t that excited about jumping out of the car, into the cold, sit on a wet dock, with it snowing. But I saw an opportunity to spice up an already incredible scene, with a personal touch. When I went to the limit and ask that young beautiful woman to splash the water with her foot, for a cinemagraph, I pushed her to the limit of cold. I had a lot of warming up to do. Nice memory.
Quite the beautiful grounds to stroll on at the Smith’s Polynesian Luau in the Wailua River Valley on Kauai. As the crowds were all heading back to prepare for a sunset meal at the pavilion, I headed the other direction taking advantage of the quiet stillness and people-less areas in the back of the park. Nothing like having the place to yourself as sunset approaches and the photographic opportunities that come with it.

It’s hard to believe this is the desert around Phoeniz, Az. It was just one of those days when the air was exceptionally clean, and rare “puffy” clouds were floating through Phoenix. I grabbed the camera, got on the bicycle, and headed out into the neighborhood. We live in a lake community, so great “photo ops” are not far away. Most people hate the heat of summer here, and I’m no different. I plan alot of road trips in the summer, to cooler climates.. But, after the summer heat breaks, everyday for the next 8 months becomes, “just another day in paradise”!

The last couple of nights after getting back from San Francisco, I was still in the photographing mood, so I wandered over to our park to capture some pretty awesome moon glows. The night before local fisher people took over the dock, but last night it was, quiet, calm and stellar. Spent a couple hours catching shots as the colors and hues kept changing. This one was one of my favorites.
I had another camera going clickity-click every 10 seconds as the moon was rising. I plan on putting them together into a video form. Some time I’ll show them!!

In Kauai last week, took in a Luau at Smith’s Tropic Paradise. It had beautiful grounds to wander around for hours if you chose. I got there at a great time for photos. The clouds were very dramatic and lighting was perfect. A wedding had just commenced on this bridge, so when everyone cleared out I grabbed a chance to grab a few shots. Fabulous night, weather was perfect and a great spot to spend an evening, if you’re ever on the island of Kauai.
Travelling through Ireland on the back roads is a thrilling exercise in wanting to see everything and remembering to drive on the “opposite side” of the road, for us Americans. We saw this small lake on the drive to Killarney and had to check it out. With the storm clouds rolling in, it made for an excellent opportunity to create an HDR image.
A rainy day in Portland, Oregon. I guess nothing out of the ordinary. I had my assistant hold up an umbrella to keep the camera dry. I didn’t fair so well. But having everything dripping with water made the whole area just glisten, and being from Arizona, this was a special treat..rain is something we hardly ever see. This bridge was busy. Everyone stopped in the middle to take in the view of the pond. I waited and finally got my shot.
