Cruisin’ Through Glacier Bay, Alaska

I don’t think I’ve felt farther from civilization, then I felt in Glacier Bay, Alaska. It’s like you get a flat tire there, you’re gonna be eaten by wolves. Well being on a cruiseship, it could break down. I guess that’s not a bad thing. By the time you eat up all the food, another cruiseship is barreling through. You might get a little tired of the entertainment.

Not many people go out on deck, when cruising in Alaska. The air, even in the summer is quite cold, when the boat is moving. But the scenery is like nowhere else in the world. My guess is the only place close, would be up in Sweden and Norway, through the fjords, and down in New Zealand through Fjordland. Got to put those on my bucket list.

Latourel Falls is serenity in Oregon

I can still feel the cool summer mist as it blankets down wave after wave of pure refreshing water droplets. The camera doesn’t quite like it and I find myself forever cleaning the lens of mist, as I set up for a low angle shot, along the brooke that flows under the falls. I guess somebody has to go all the way up to Oregon in the summer and grab these shots. It might as well be me, but you’re welcome at any time to crawl under this falls, clothes and all, and let it catch you off-guard and take your breath away.

Covered Bridge, Oregon

One summer we went to Oregon to do nothing but track down covered bridges and waterfalls. We traveled quite a bit around the state searching for the best. This one seemed cool, but can’t remember the name of it. If you happen to know, drop a line. This one did pull out some color for an HDR shot. Looks like someone is waiting patiently at the other end of the bridge for me!

Sullivan Falls, Oregon

It seemed like forever getting to this falls. After leaving I-5 near Salem, Oregon, it’s a good 40 miles or so heading east. I didn’t quite catch that looking at the map. I’ve photographed quite a few waterfalls all over the state. Oregon got quite a few and I love finding them. If you’re like me, a waterfalls aficionado, you’ll love hiking the trails around Oregon, looking for the next forested cascade.

Coast near Lincoln City, Oregon

Oregon Coast with it’s fog and clouds never disappoints for a dramatic HDR shot. Summers are cool and we look for any excuse to get out of the Arizona heat and venture up to Oregon in summer to spend a week exploring the coast lines.

The Rugged Oregon Coast

Daily Photo:

This is the 1st year in many that we didn’t tour along the Oregon coast. I really wanted to, but it didn’t fit into our busy travel schedule this summer. Who knows it might still happen, but other trips are planned for the coming weeks.

This photo was taken along the coast cliffs north of Cannon Beach, Oregon.

Oo ee Baby, Won’t You Let Me Take You On A Sea Cruise

Daily Photo:

If you haven’t tried cruising, you’ll need to put it on your bucket list. For any age it is a whole lot of fun. You unpack once and you’re good to go for the week. Royal Caribbean a few years ago added the “Liberty of the Seas” to their fleet of mega-ships. I personally like the mega-ships with big mall-like palisades, Ice skating rinks, rock climbing walls, and on and on. This is a shot of the colorful pool deck with the disco up above in the skybox. Like the old nostalgic song says..”Oo ee Baby, won’t you let me take you on sea cruise”.

Waterfalls at Japanese Gardens, Portland, Oregon

Daily Photo:

Japenese Gardens are always alot of fun to photograph. Portland’s  Japanese Gardens, has one of the most impressive man-made waterfalls I’ve ever seen. I don’t know who designed it, but it definitely is a work of art. The Red Maple trees set it off so colorfully and the water cascades down tiers that look quite natural.

Oregon Coast Bridge

Daily Photo:

Every year I make an effort to travel to Oregon to photograph the coast. Ever changing, ever beautiful. It’s a great place to just slow down and enjoy nature’s wonders. This part of Oregon’s central coast is very rocky and makes for touching compositions.

Sahalie Falls on the McKenzie River, Oregon

One of Oregons best waterfalls, weaving through the old growth forest with a loop trail down past another of my favorites-Koosah Falls. I’ve wondered this forest many times, usually as an excuse to get out of the heat of Arizona. The cool current that these falls create is incredible. The aqua blue hue through the middle of the falls is naturale. If you’re ever in Eugene, Oregon, don’t miss this stop. Take Hwy 126 east for 68 miles and follow the signs. Worth a hike and view.
