This Italian town is a great place to stay when you’re visiting Cinque Terre National Park. My favorite cliff towns are; Rio Maggiore,Vernazza and Manarola. Everything in Levanto is within walking distance including the train station to the cliff towns. Beautiful beaches, flee markets, tree-lined streets, patio restaurants, bakeries, B&B’s, you name it, you’ll find in Levanto.
This photo is close to the beach in a square. Our room is on the 3rd floor of the B&B in the background with the window open.

Who has ever heard of Levanto, Italy? We surely didn’t and we travel alot in Italy. We ran into some friends on the plane to Rome and they told us,” If we’re going to Cinque Terre that we had to stay in Levanto”. They said it is the best place to stay and it’s just west of the cliff towns that make up Cinque Terre. It has a nice sandy beach, beautiful tree-lined streets, B&B’s, restaurants and shops galore. What more could you ask for. It was quite a find. The road in was a bit hair-raising though. It had switch-back narrow mountainous roads all the way down to this quaint little peaceful town. From our hotel it was a 10 minute walk to the train station. So that ended our need for a car.

This is somebody’s home or should I say mansion. We stumbled upon it, just walking the streets of Levanto. It had huge pointed rot iron gates in front, so I stuck the camera through the gate and took a shot. As they say, “It must be nice”!
