Hilltop above Vernazza, Cinque Terre, Italy

Two weeks after we visited Vernazza, Cinque Terre, Italy, disaster struck. A violent and sudden rain storm brought flash flooding from multiple directions down the hills from behind this quaint little Italian cliffside town. The streets were filled with 12 feet of mud and pretty much buried everything in it’s path. The startling contrast of our visit, which had beautiful weather and then within weeks, destruction washing everything in it’s path out into the ocean. This is a photographer’s paradise and hopefully in the next few months they will get back to the beautiful little infamous Italian clifftown, bustling with tourist, hiking, boating, fishing and shopping like they have always done.
