Playing On The Tracks-Rural Oregon

I remember as a kid we were always playing on the tracks. In fact I was crazy enough, as a young teenager, to chase a train and jump on it. Took me somewhere I didn’t want to go! We would put pennies on the tracks and then later search the tracks to see what would happen to the penny. Most of the time we couldn’t find it. Then we got smart and taped the penny to the tracks. It smooshed down to a wafer-thin 3″ wide. Since this was after 1909,  Abe Lincoln got a face lift.
