Cliffs of Moher-Ireland

The Cliffs of Moher are located at the southwestern edge of the Burren region in County Claire, Ireland. They rise 390 ft above the Atlantic Ocean at Hag’s Head, and reach their maximum height of 702 ft. just north of O’Brien’s Point, 6.5 miles to the north. As sure as there is sunshine in Arizona, the rain was a falling in Ireland. The wind that climbed up over the precipous of the cliffs was enough to knock you over. Not the best scenario for HDR photography which requires everything to be pretty well, “still”. You’re awestruck standing on the edge of these vertical cliffs looking over the vast Atantic Ocean, eastward toward North America, so very far away. The effervescent greens take your breath away, something Ireland is very well known for. Over a million people a year come to enjoy this very spot and marvel at nature’s work of art.

HDR photography tidbit: HDR is a challenge if anything is moving. If you can’t get your surroundings to stand still, go ahead and use your best exposed photo and just run it through “tonemapping” in Photomatix. If you have raw files, you could make a copy of your best exposed photo and increase 1 or 2 stops in either direction and then merge those photos in Photomatix. If you have alot of problems with noise, I highly recommend Topaz Adjustment.
